A Little About Donyvon Mead

_____ Moving to Austin, Texas in January of 2009, Donyvon Mead has embarked on a new adventure in his life and career. He has worked in the beauty industry for over 18 years, and from the beginning was passionate about the artistry of hair design, especially anything to do with color. Within the first five years as a cosmetologist, while living in Wisconsin, he had the opportunity to receive advanced color training with both Goldwell and Schwartzkopf, and to apprentice in corrective coloring and Vidal Sassoon hair cutting under the tutelage of Marie-Jeanne Moret of Switzerland. _____In 1998, Donyvon moved to Norfolk, Virginia, and was soon a master designer for Regis Hairstylists. In 2001, he was one of Regis' top 100 colorists in the nation. Later that year, he opened the first incarnation of Donyvon's Dezigns, which was a successful experience with salon ownership. Donyvon wanted to leave Norfolk, so in 2005, he took his clients to Avalon Hair and Day Spa in order to streamline and simplify. _____ In 2008, he went to a choral festival in Florida with his men's chorus, where he met a wonderful, handsome man who was there with the Capital City Men's Chorus of Austin, Texas, named Jeffery. It soon became apparent that Jeffery and Donyvon should be more than just friends, and so it was time for Donyvon to bid farewell to Norfolk. _____ Donyvon decided that as long as he was going to be rebuilding his career from the ground up, it would be best to take the plunge and reopen Donyvon's Dezigns. Bringing together years of training, knowledge of the best products, and the desire to create a truly enjoyable salon environment, he, with the help of his life-mate Jeffery, created a business plan, pulled together the financing, and reopened Donyvon's Dezigns. He invites you to see the results of his efforts, and hopes you will find it a place you'll wish to call your salon home.
